Description

Dypsis decaryi, commonly known as the triangle palm, is a unique and striking palm recognized for its triangular-shaped trunk, formed by the arrangement of its leaf bases. It typically grows to a height of 4.5–6 meters (15–20 feet) with arching pinnate fronds that can reach 2.5–3 meters (8–10 feet) long. The fronds are blue-green with stiff, evenly spaced leaflets, creating an elegant, symmetrical appearance.

Native to Madagascar, the triangle palm thrives in sandy, well-drained soils and full sun but can tolerate partial shade. It is highly drought-tolerant and moderately resistant to wind, making it a durable choice for exposed landscapes. Dypsis decaryi can survive temperatures as low as -4,5°C (24°F).
