Livistona chinensis, commonly known as the Chinese fan palm, that typically reaches 9-15 meters (30-50 feet) in height. It has a single, straight gray trunk with leaf scars and a full crown of large, fan-shaped fronds. The fronds are bright green, measuring 1-1.5 meters (3-5 feet) wide, with long, drooping tips that give the palm a soft, weeping look. It produces white flowers followed by small, round, bluish fruits.
Native to southern China, Taiwan, this palm thrives in well-drained soils and grows well in full sun or partial shade. It is moderately drought-tolerant, resistant to strong winds, and can survive cold temperatures as low as -6°C (21°F). Its adaptability, attractive foliage, and moderate size make it a popular choice for landscaping in both tropical and colder climates.
