Description
Agave americana var. marginata, commonly known as variegated century plant, is a large, dramatic succulent that forms rosettes 1.5-2 meters (5-6.5 feet) tall and up to 3 meters (10 feet) wide. Its thick, arching leaves are blue-green with striking yellow or cream-colored margins, each ending in a sharp spine and lined with curved teeth. After many years, it sends up a towering flower stalk reaching 5–9 meters (16–30 feet), bearing yellow blossoms.
Native to arid and semi-arid regions of Mexico, it thrives in dry, rocky soils and full sun.
