Description
Hesperaloe parviflora, commonly known as red yucca, is a clump-forming, evergreen succulent that grows 0.6-1.2 meters (2-4 feet) tall and wide. It has narrow, arching, blue-green leaves with fibrous edges and no sharp tips. In late spring through summer, it produces tall flower stalks up to 1.5-2 meters (5-6.5 feet) high bearing tubular, red to coral-pink flowers that attract hummingbirds.
Native to the Chihuahuan Desert region of Texas and northern Mexico, red yucca thrives in rocky or sandy soils and full sun. It is extremely drought-tolerant. Its tolerance for harsh conditions and low maintenance needs make it ideal for xeriscaping, desert gardens, and urban landscapes.
