Description
Arenga hookeriana is a diminutive, clustering palm that frequently retains undivided, paddle shaped leaves well into maturity, though some older specimens occasionally develop sparsely pinnate fronds. The leaves present a deep, glossy green upper surface that contrasts abruptly with a striking silvery white underside. It forms a tight clump of slender canes that typically reach just 1.5 to 2 m (5 to 6 ft) in height. As a monoecious plant, it produces small inflorescences that yield round fruits, ripening from green to a deep red.
