Description
Brachychiton bidwillii, commonly known as the dwarf kurrajong or little kurrajong, is a small, deciduous to semi-deciduous tree or large shrub that typically grows 3-7 meters (10-23 feet) tall. It has a broad, irregular crown and thick, grey bark. The leaves are variable-either deeply lobed or simple and are green and leathery. Its most striking feature is its bright pink to red, bell-shaped flowers that appear in clusters on bare branches during late spring or summer, before the new foliage emerges.
Native to Queensland, Australia, the dwarf kurrajong grows in dry woodlands and prefers well-drained soils and full sun.
