Description
Maclura pomifera, commonly known as Osage orange or hedge apple, is a small to medium-sized deciduous tree reaching 8-15 meters (26-50 feet) in height. The leaves are simple, glossy green. It produces large, round, green fruit up to 10–15 centimeters (4–6 inches) in diameter with a bumpy surface, resembling a wrinkled orange but not typically edible.
Native to the south-central United States, especially the Red River region, Osage orange thrives in a variety of soils and full sun.
