Description
Livistona chinensis var subglobosa is a rare variant of Livistona chinensis from Taiwan, Japan. It is a variant with significantly faster growth compared to its regular counterpart. This variant will continue to grow in temperatures where the regular variety would have completely stopped. It is also characterized by being larger and more robust in overall appearance. One of the biggest differences is the fruit, which is a different color; a very dark blue, practically black, and double or triple the size of the regular Livistona chinensis, and the seed, which is ovoid in the case of subglobosa and elliptical in the case of the regular Livistona chinensis.
